OH..by the way...

Sun. 7/12
1:30 p.m
Can you guess what happened?
Can you tell which car won?
Tahoe(blue) or Expedition(red)

Apparently, their motto is true...Fords are built tough!!
Especially when they are driven by an 80+ yr old who turns right on red...and slams into you as you are coming through the light....good times!!!

D-D-D-D-D- Dora..LIVE!!

Sun. 7/12
Talk about a dream come true...
L has seen the ad for "Dora Live" for a year it seems.
She would always tell me she "needed" to see it.....every time the little commercial would come on...she would call me in....and it was always in New York, PA, etc...never Houston. SO...when we got the pre-sale email in May....I was so excited to finally be able to take her..
.especially since she "needed" to go.:)
We had a Mommy/Daughter date today...
and it was worth every penny and headache having to get the tickets.....I purchased them in May...and had to pick them up at Will-call...too may snafu's..She was SO excited and involved during the show...too too cute!!! If only they could stay little...and respond to Dora and others forever.....she had the best time!!!

of course she had to have "Dora-duds" to wear...
I found this little sundress at Target awhile back...
and had to get it since it was "Dora colors"......
I knew I wanted to have it embroidered or something..
I never dreamed it would turn out so cute!!
(and the orange bow had her name on it in pink to match...how cute is that?!?!?!?)

If you look to the right on my blog...under "Check these out"
Baby gifts
Jamie is the best!
She has the cutest things EVER on her site....check them out...I PROMISE you won't be disappointed.:) L was SO excited when her dress arrived this week...and even more excited that I told her it was to wear to see "Dora Live!"

K-"Look, you got a package in the mail...open it!"
L- "Who is it from?"
K- "I'm not sure...open it..and maybe we'll find out!"
L-"DOOORRRAAA...this dress is so cute!!!!! (shrill...shrill...shreek....scream)
L- "I think God sent this to me!"

she wanted to move to the aisle to dance when it was time to dance...I had an aisle seat..so it was perfect!

of course...we had to hit the overpriced souvenir stand
She knew exactly what she wanted...Backpack...and Dora!

$40..cha-ching....
she wanted Boots and Diego as well...but at $15 each...we passed...I told her 2 things only....and a mini-fit was brewing...but thanks to the lady helping us....it was stopped...She heard me tell L she could only get 2 things...and when the fit was on the brink...she said, "I can only let you buy 2 things!"..whew..thank you!!

ready for the show to begin...

each child was given a little star when they entered...and had to wave them several times throughout the program... L was entertained the whole time!

P.S.- If you are wondering if that is a dirt spot on her chest...nope...it's a nice green bruise....that's what happens when a 4 yr old is sent to her room...pitches a fit...flails around and falls off her bed and hits her nightstand....just sayin'!

Reading Class- CHECK

7/8/09
L's last day of "Reading Class"....she took a course that was once a week....for 5 weeks...each class was from 10:30-11:45. The program is offered through Baylor every summer...and starts at 4 yrs. old. She was in the 4/beginning Kindergarten class. L had fun....and got over a little of her shyness....It made me appreciate how much she does know being in the class and seeing some of the other students. Not to sound like one of those parents, but she already knew the 3 main focus areas that were being taught...might help that her Momma has an education background...hhmmm...so, as far as learning any new skills...no...but we had a great time...and I learned some cute activities that we will continue...

She LOVED her teacher "Mr. B."..and looked forward to working in her workbook..and completing her "homework" every week!
So cute!!!

Swim Lessons- CHECK

L completed her 2 weeks of lessons.....she did very well.....but wants to know someone is right beside her...just in case...at all times......but hey, she's 4..so that's okay....she loved getting the dive sticks....but wasn't a big fan of swimming to the wall....and yes, she wore a different bathing suit each day.:) The second week, she would work herself everyday....but, she did it...We were so proud of her!!!

Firecracker...Firecracker...Boom..boom..boom!!

Did I mention that L was exhausted?
Did I mention that we got home around 10:30?
Did I mention that she was not so pleasant to be around?
Did I mention that she didn't nap..at all?
Did I mention that it was wwaaayyy past her bedtime?
Did I mention that M is a fireworks-freak?
Did I mention that L is a mini-fireworks freak?
Did I mention that despite all of the above...we let her do a few fireworks when we got home!!
OH..Did I mention that fireworks are illegal in our part of town?
Did I mention that we are under a mandatory water rationing?
Did I mention that the grass is as dry as the desert?
Did I mention that she had a blast?

L was so excited about this gun!
getting the sparklers ready

spelling her name in the air

check out the heels

lovely section of fence missing...thanks Ike!

wait...that is too loud!!
OH..DID I MENTION THAT SHE WENT TO BED AROUND 1:00 A.M.???
AND WAS SNORING WITHIN MINUTES OF FALLING ASLEEP..in our bed!!

Fireworks @ the Kema*h Boardwa*lk...kind of

After our early afternoon celebration....we came home to rest....but, L decided she wasn't "tired"
hhmmm....so, we were undecided on whether we would watch fireworks or not...We headed to Chili's-Kemah for dinner......we finished a little after 9:00 and the fireworks were to start at 9:30.....the behavior...eeks...but we figured we were there....might as well watch the "show"....We set up our chairs in front of our car...and had a great view...The fireworks lasted about 20 minutes.....but the attitude from our little firecracker....lasted all night!! WOW!!!

don't let the sweet smile fool you!!

ok...she was not so pleasant to be with....but is too cute...it's hard to stay mad for long!!
T-I-R-E-D had a LOT to do with it!!!

Three cheers for the red, white and blue!!

7/4/09
We had a great...but HOT....4th of July!!
We went to the Citizen's Appreciation Day celebration...
and had a great time..
Everything was free..
hot dogs, drinks, Snow-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, pony rides, petting zoo, moonwalks, beads, entertainment, mini flags, face painting..and more!!

L was loving the popcorn...but not loving that it was time to go.:)
M stood in line for 45 minutes to get L some cotton candy...it was gone within 5 minutes...
she LOVED it!

see..double fisted

Cute Line-Dance club...that danced along to the band that was playing..

aaww..baby goats..baby pigs...
but not so cute when the baby pigs ate and drank the baby goats "mess"...YUCK...that is when I told L to get out of the petting zoo!

L was so excited to ride the "pink" pony...
sorry little boy that she practically trampled getting to the "pink" pony.:)

we had just cooled off with our yummy Snow-cones

fancy airbrush painting

enjoying her bunless hot dog.:)

who is this 8 year old waving the flag?

Happy 4th of July!!!

Of course...we had to go to the Firework Warehouse to buy some kid friendly fireworks...M was so sad...he loves putting on a display...but didn't get to this year...since we didn't go out of town...but, he said he would stock up at this place next year...

gettin' the goods!
*MORE PICS FROM THE EVENING TO COME...
