It's never too hot to build a fort...

Thurs. 6/25
Since it's been 100+ degrees this week...
we've avoided going outside unless we've absolutely had to...
it is just too too hot!!
I can remember destroying our living room and sectional couch growing up....
.so I could build a really big fort......
so,I though L might like it too...
we made a mini fort today...
L was SSSOOO excited!!

inside her "house"
we used 2 of our dining room chairs....and blankets to drape over as the "roof" and "door"....but, she proceeded to gather every blanket we own to use in her "house"

she told me she didn't need to take a rest in her bed...
she had a new "house" she was going to rest in.......

okay...so, did I mention that I had a major headache today...trying to quit the Dr. Pepper addiction.....I convinced L that we needed to take a rest..and she could rest in my bed with me.......
did I mention that I fell asleep for about 20 minutes...
and when I woke up.......well....
she was in here and had added 2 extra chairs...
every girl needs a bigger house..
and every momma obviously needs a little nap here and there.:)
(and at least 1 Dr. Pepper a day!!)

What's with the hat?!

L has been wearing this hat for the past 2 days..I think it belongs to one of her baby dolls..but all her dolls are naked...so I don't know what is what anymore....
(Wed. 6/24 & Thurs. 6/25)
check out the ensemble..
she loves the "layered" look..
seriously, she always layers...
she also has on a pair of brown leggings.:)
and no, I didn't take her out in public.:)
wishing it would cool down....

This was L the "baby"...she had the hat, pacifier, and pull-up on..
she was crawling all around the kitchen "crying"
NO..she doesn't take a pacifier..or wear a pull-up
(we do have an emergency stash that she has had to revert back to a few times at night lately..ggrrr)

aaww....little baby!!

Happy 12th Anniversary!!!

6/21/09
SERIOUSLY?!?! 12 years...
6/21/1997

Today we celebrated our 12th Anniversary...
that just sounds so crazy to say...
where has the time gone?
We were so young, and ready to face the road ahead of us...
not knowing what it would bring...
but knowing we would have each other...
not knowing the heartache we would face trying to have a child,
but knowing that it was all worth it once we finally did!!
We're looking forward to many more together...
(and without those GIANT frames M was sporting...don't believe me..double click on the pictures to get a better view...we love to laugh about them now...but they seemed so normal back then!)
Gotta love the 90's!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY BEST FRIEND!!!
I LOVE YOU!!!

Happy Father's Day!!!

La*uren is such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful Daddy!
She tells me she is going to marry her Daddy when she grows up....
and he'll have to get a new wedding ring.....
I love watching the 2 of them together....
I know that she will grow up...
and realize she can't marry her Daddy...
but for now.....
why crush her.:)

Happy Father's Day M*ichael!!!

1. My Daddy's name is Michael Villa*sana

2. He is years 13 years old.

3. My Daddy plays "simon says" with me.

4. We like to go Dairy Queen together.

5. I like it when my Daddy dances with me and plays dominoes with me.

6. My favorite thing to do with my Daddy is love him.
7. I love my Daddy...a hundred-a zAllion-fifteen!!!!
Daddy, You love L*auren ,you love Mommy...we got you the hand....
uh, you're my favorite...I love you in your heart! Um..um..I love you a zallion-hundred!
(blue=L)

OK....one of our many Father's Day gift projects.....we spelled out "Daddy"...these were just a few of the MANY pics taken....I ended up using the ones with the black background...the letters seemed to stand out better.....I found a vertical/ 5 slot frame..and it turned out so cute! We're hoping M likes it...I have a feeling he will! How could you not...look at those faces!!

Trying to beat the heat....

Sat. 6/20
M was trimming out of control vines and branches this morning...and L decided she needed to be outside as well.....she came running in the house telling me she needed to put on her bathing suit and play with the hose....I turned the hose on for her.....Apparently playing in the hose wasn't good enough....so, they opted for the crocodile pool......

she said she needed a noodle to "float and relax"

I hate to break it to her, but we so have to retire this bathing suit...it has been her favorite forever...but it is getting a tad bit too small.......when your ninnies hang out, and it leaves marks on you when you take it off....and a major wedgie......time to move on....guess it's ok for home....

"Mommy...You make the BEST Dumpkin Huns!!!!"

Thurs. 6/18

We finally made the Dumpkin Huns....L helped...

the last of the Dumpkin Huns were polished off today!

wow...can't believe she has waited since April

VBS Family Night

Thurs. 6/18
L had a fun and busy week at VBS.
She went everyday(except Wed.) from 9-12.
She was very excited to go...but even more excited to find out her friend, Tay*lor was going to be there. L and T, and a few others, were moved from the 4 yr. old class to the Pre-K class...so L thought she was big.:)
On Thursday evening, families were invited to come see all the children had been working on in class...and to hear all of the songs they had learned. On Friday, L came home with a brown grocery bag FULL of awesome projects and crafts she had been working on...AND a CD of all the songs they had learned......and yes, I know the songs now...that's all we listen to in the car...and we bring the cd in to listen to it...then back to the car...you get the idea.:)
What a great program...what a great outreach....so many children impacted in such a short amount of time!!

After the open house and singing....families were invited to the gym for the kids to play..and for ice cream....ginger ale and orange sherbet...it had a cute Australian name to go with the theme..but can't remember ..
the theme was "Boomerang Express"

all aboard the boomerang express-
after VBS on Tues, we went to chick-fil-a....L and T wanted to ride together...so they rode with J*essica (T's mom)...L was telling her how they had learned the "Panda Express" song too funny!!

Friends Forever!

so cute...singing and doing the motions

Beach Babe

Fri. 6/12
*Galveston*
L apparently thinks Mangie+Friday=Beach
L was excited that Mangie was here..
and wanted to go to the beach again.
We waited to see if she remembered Friday morning......well......we went to the beach!>:)
After sleeping in past 10:00....and driving down and finding a spot...
we got there right at NOON...ouch!!
We only stayed for a few hours...L was lathered and slathered with 50 and 70 spf sunscreen....and re-lathered and re-slathered...
and Mommy and Mangie, well...I guess we thought we would be fine...
since it was the hottest part of the day and all...
in Texas....
in June...
on the water!!
One word-
OUCH!!!!
Oowweee zowie...talk about a rough night...and I am still hurting...M thinks I have a bit of sun poisoning....my arms/chest/back are all very achy....my bones hurt..and the top half of me is on fire...of course my legs are still ghost white...of course!!
ANYHOW...we had a great time...and enjoyed watching L play on the beach...again.:)

working up the courage to fill her bucket with water...she did it.:)
waiting..waiting...waiting..that's one way to do it.:)

I DID IT!!!
(double click to look at that excited face)

L was so excited to feed the "Eagles"

this was after the beach...and a few stops...almost home

Life is good!

How could you not take this cute thing to the beach?!?!

My little designer...
she collected shells the whole time we were at the beach...
then decided..
on her own...
that it would look nice if they were all around the sandcastles...
very cute!!
Feeding the "eagles" and wanting them to catch the bread before it dropped

L's 1st Dance Recital

L's "Informal Demonstration"...a.k.a.- Dance Recital was on Wed. 6/10....
the dress rehearsal took place on Mon. 6/8.
Photographs and Video were only allowed at the dress rehearsal....
so, pictures of her on stage are at the rehearsal...
Her group consisted of 3 girls...
we were very lucky...
the girls received a lot of extra attention.
L loved her teachers, Mrs. Natalie and Miss Shelby..LOVED!!!
looks like the roses were a bit heavy to carry
L was so proud of her roses...We ordered them ahead of time, and picked them up before the show...but presented them to L when she was finished...the money from the flowers is added to a scholarship fund that sends 8 teenage students to NYC each summer...to study for 4 weeks ...
http://www.royalacademyoffinearts.com/nyc-scholarship.aspx
Miss Shelby and L...we enjoyed watching them both dance at the recital..

Around 8:45 p.m.....she had to be there at 5:00..and the show started at 6:00...tired girl!!!
Each class had 2 hostess moms that were in charge of the girls the entire show...there was a police officer who stood guard at the door....Parents were not allowed in the "holding area"...I dropped L off at the door at 5:00...my big girl...Nana and Ms. Debby took good care of her.:)

Before the recital...check out all of the make-up ..eeks

this was after the dress rehearsal..at around 9:00 p.m.....we were finally able to have dinner....this t-shirt was also a scholarship fundraiser
so sweet!!!!
My tiny ballerina

getting ready to start

L's tap routine was to "Calendar Girl"..it was the cutest thing ever!!! I"m not sure if it was the fact that her class was the smallest in number....or the smallest in size...but at the recital, they truly got the most applause on both of their dances....they were all so cute!!!

Concentrating
* Each year RAFA alternates....one year is an Informal Demonstration..
then the following year, the students put on a Formal Demonstration..
the students didn't have "costumes" this year...we had to purchase their skirt and headpiece....we purchased matching leotards for our class...something new and special..
next year, the Formal Demonstration will be
"The Wizard of Oz"
HOW FUN!!!
