Easter 2009!

WOW....thank you Easter Bunny!! L came running downstairs..screaming when she saw her basket..
L- " I KNEW IT...I KNEW SHE WOULD COME!!!!!!"
The EB brought L sssooo much it wouldn't all fit in her basket...chocolate, gum, pez, bubbles, puzzles, chalk, and so many other trinkets...a little blue chick that she quickly named "Peep", 3 new Max & Ruby DVD's, a new Leapster game, and a pair of tickets to Disney on Ice..WOW!! Merry Easter!!

L was checking out her new Max & Ruby DVD's

After church we had reservations for brunch at South Shore...

The EB came to our table sseeevvveerraalll times to see L!

After brunch we all came home and napped...we forgot to check before we left for church...since it was raining...but, apparently the EB hid the eggs we had dyed.....

scoping out the backyard...looking for eggs

L- "there's one..on that loud box!"

silly EB..hid one in L's "garden"

WOW..she found them all!

WHAT?! Mangie bought L 12 more rolls of scotch tape...thanks Mangie...you know how she loves tape!!!

* We enjoyed our Easter weekend....but whew, good thing it only comes around once a year...we were pooped after all of the festivities! Stay tuned for Disney on Ice pictures.....

'Twas the night before Easter..and all through the house..

Sat. 4/11
we were coloring eggs, baking cupcakes, and getting treats ready for the Easter Bunny...

L LOVED dying eggs this year
(that is the drop cloth I use when I paint boards...just in case you are wondering)

when we went to buy eggs..L insisted we buy "2 boxes"...one to color...one to use for cupcakes....I wasn't thinking when I started boiling them all....and added both cartons..oops...she was watching me..and said "MOMMY...3 eggs were for our cupcakes!"....back to the store!!

L has been asking to bake cupcakes for a few weeks...so, we did...

did I mention it was the box we bought at Christmas that we never made...but hey, green is a spring color too! :)

Leaving treats for the EB...L originally counted 6 out..but decided she wanted to eat 3...and the EB could have 3!

We searched for carrot juice...but figured the EB would like V-8 just as much.:)

Everything is ready...time for sleep!
L-"Mommy, does the Easter Bunny come down the chimney like Santa does?"
K-" I think he does!"
L- "The Easter Bunny is a she!! Well, what if you don't have a fireplace?"
K-"The Easter Bunny has a magic key that opens all front doors!"
L-"Can I sleep with you, I don't want her coming in my house!"
K- "The Easter Bunny also has special glasses that she tell if kids are in their own beds or not...if your bed is empty...she will skip our house..she comes in so fast..and then leaves!"
L stayed in her room...but was tapping on my shoulder at about 2:00 a.m....she said she was scared the bunny was going to come upstairs.....how much does bunny therapy run these days?

Egg Hunt...take 3!

Sat. April 11
NO, we don't troll around looking for egg hunts..LOL! The church where L attends MDO..has an annual Easter egg hunt that we have always attended.:)
Rain or Shine...it's huntin' time!!!

the sea of eggs ...just in her age group

hhmm...coming up with her game plan!

This picture cracks me up...L started right next to these 3 kids..and she is bookin' it...see..the hallway training paid off.:) A girl on a mission!!!

What a haul!!!

* I LOVE watching her!!!

MDO Easter Party

(this is out of place..this was after the hunt..waiting for everyone to finish...and waiting to open eggs!)

Thurs. 4/9

L brought the egg/spoon race game for the class to play...they were cute!

getting ready to hunt eggs...each student was asked to bring 6 eggs...filled with candy...the teachers explained to the kids before they went out, they could find as many as they wanted...but they were only going to get to keep 6 of them...so it would be fair...L counted her 6 as she found them, and stopped at 6..it was pretty cute!

1...2...3...

6...finished!

The Easter Bunny stood outside the playground while the kids had their hunt....the EB knew some would be scared...and they were! But most of the kiddos gave the EB a hug!

time to eat!

L had a great time at her party.:)
I was glad I was able to attend and help out...this was the day I finally felt better..and passed my kidney stone I had been battling all week...yes, another one! no, didn't go to the ER this time....had the pain pills and strainer from Feb....and since we still a have the $$$$ bills from then...had to suck it up at home...thank goodness M came home early on Mon, Tues, and Wed to help out...so I could take my pain pills and sleep....and yes, it is more painful than labor....

Egg Hunt + Birthday Party= Pooped!!!

Sun. 4/5
The first official egg hunt of the season....and L was ready to go!
We had a few "training drills" to get ready...I tossed a bunch of plastic eggs in the hallway upstairs...and had her run to collect them.
"GRAB AND GO...grab every color, don't be picky, toss it in your basket, don't open it...you can do that later! GO GO GO!!"
We did this several times...L would gather the eggs...while I was drying my hair...she would bring her bucket to me so I could see how many she had...and so I would know how fast she collected all of her eggs too...then I"d throw them out again...
only one training mishap, she was so excited when she found a princess egg..that she came to show it to me....and left the other eggs...aaahhh...eeekks...sorry...maybe I'm competitive..you think?!
I really do have a good reason..some of the eggs at the real hunt were prize eggs..they contained slips of paper....bikes, scooters, etc...good prizes..so, training was necessary.:)

this was not even an option last year...but look at her now...so brave!
NICE...this is what you get when you ask a 3 and 4 year old to look at you and smile...when one is just as crazy as the other...monkey see..monkey do!

"A, let's pose like this!"
(L is all about the pose and ending pose)
L was in the 4-5 age group...the kids were divided by age, and each group had a designated baseball field......you were led to the field right at 1:00 p.m....we arrived at about 12:20...and stood in line until it was "go time!" This was the calm before the storm...

GO! GO! GO!!

L was very proud of her eggs...and her candy...I opened them all up looking for a prize slip of paper..:( you would have thought I was a crack addict looking for crack the way I tore through them...I think M even said, "Easy Killer!"...L didn't know about the paper prizes...so she wasn't sad...but me, well..maybe a little....just means more training next year! LOL

A.M. and L.V.= friends forever!

**** After the egg hunt, I had a family bridal shower to attend...
that started at 2:00 in Friendswood...
L had a birthday party to attend .....
that started at 2:00 in Rosharon

so, off we went...what a good Daddy to take L to the party! ( this is the 2nd one he has had to take her to...he loves that it is usually my job!)

it was actually rreeeaaallly cold..so apparently this was the one and only time L got in the water!

L always talks about wanting a tire swing...so I know she was excited to get to swing on one at the birthday party!

playing "ice cream shop"

look at my sweet girl watching the presents being opened.....we have been to sssooo many birthday parties..and I always remind her to sit and watch....don't crowd the birthday child...maybe I"m a little OCD..since I did have her sit inside a hula hoop while she opened presents at her party...but hey,the birthday child needs room to rip through their gifts..without being crowded! and I know the hula hoop will be back next year..:) and you know you so wish you would have thought of that too..huh!?.:)

This is what happens after you hunt eggs, go to a birthday party, and have a 45 minute car ride each way...you are pooped!
L was out like a light within a few minutes of getting on the couch....we let her sleep a few minutes..but wanted her to eat before she was past the point of no return....

sweet girl

apparently..she was already past the point of no return!

just a swingin'..

Thurs. 4/2/2009
M and I both picked L up from school...
and decided to head to the park and fly a kite....
well, after stopping off at 3 stores....
we were kite-less...
but headed to the park anyhow.:)

determined to be "big"
no fear

check out the concentration

"look at my pose!"

L was laughing because she was trying to kick my camera...(but not really) and of course I was acting silly with her...she had the giggles!

Double click to check out her face...
this slide was vvveerrryyy steep...
and she was not so sure about it after the first slide down...
but went again....
"Come slide with me Daddy!"

and he did...
and I wet my pants!...
well, not really...
but I was truly laughing so hard nothing was coming out...
except tears....
I needed a good laugh...
and M got tickled at how tickled how I was...
so it was giggly day at the park for all!

maybe next time we'll atually have a kite, and M can laugh at me going down the slide.:)
